It's that time of the year when Randy Higbee hosts the 6'' Squared Show. 

 Here is my entry, one of four paintings in this series.  I guess the Buddha had some things to teach me, we've 'wrestled' with each other for a few weeks.  I hope He won.

''Hello again..It's been a while....not much..how 'bout you?''

I haven't posted in a year, but have not stopped painting!  I spent 5 months painting 15 new florals for Chrysalis Gallery in New York.  They will be opening a second location in Gramercy Park, NYC, and I will soon announce the address and dates.
This was my latest plein air piece done on the jetty at Ponto Beach, Carlsbad.

I wonder if you are in the process of re-focusing your life and priorities, too?

Photoshop saves an old friend

''Koi and Water Lilies''  - 36'' x 40''  

I was recently asked to have some cards made from my artwork, including this painting, which has been back in my studio since the early 1990's.  It  was sent with other paintings to  a gallery in Kauai.  Later, the gallery closed just days before Hurricane Iniki hit the Island!  The painting was taken off the stretcher bars, rolled and mailed back to me, which caused some serious cracks. Other paintings returned fine.   One larger painting of Vanda Orchids wasn't so lucky - went to a house on the coast, near Poipu, that was completely swept away in the storm.

Fast forward two decades!  I sprayed this painting with matte spray, photographed it, and used the magic of Photoshop to salvage the image.  

Maybe I'll look for the photo of those Vanda Orchids  one day...

Del Mar Fair Demo

Summer Fun!

Linda Volz and I painted for a crowd (!) of Fair-goers who were mostly chowing down on their fried foods, which surrounded our area!  While that was a tough act to follow, we had fun with the view we were given.

Here is one of the 28 oil sketches done on our trip, which I will keep and display in my home or studio.

Tulips

Valentine's Day included my favorite things: family, food, and flowers!  I enjoyed the opening of these tulips as they bloomed.
